Wedding Cake Topper Bots!

Hi!

I've just finished a commission where the client asked for a pair of robotic wedding cake toppers!

 The Wedding Couple

Close Up
The Bride

 The Groom

They stand roughly 5 inches tall and were made from a wide selection of bits and bobs ranging from Sculpey to Greenstuff, Plasticard and wire.

I really enjoyed making them and would be more than happy to discuss making more with anyone who wants them!

Sketchbooking 2

Hi!

Heres another page of my sketchbooks!

Sketchbookage!

I've developed the loose idea from the previous page a little, investigating different armour types and head shapes and wondering whether head size or shape could represent different ranks or castes. Its always interesting to see how ones doodlings can take a life of their own as you develop them. I think I could probably have a bash at looking at some Egyptian artwork in order to develop the look I am thinking of.

I think I will continue developing the concept over the coming few days and may even have a bash at making a maquette of him once I'm happy with the overall design!

Sketchbooking!

Hi!

Somewhat later than promised heres the first days sketchbook page!

Sketchbook!

Its a bit of a mix of different bits and bobs but theres a concept starting to emerge there somewhere! I am going to continue to develop it to see what I can come up with as I fancy a bit of a change from producing lots of rusty robots.

Looking at whats appeared thus far I am quite drawn to the chap with the Pharaoh beard and will see where the concept goes. Maybe I will combine it with the Goblin armour in the centre as its quite fun too. I might have a bash at making it a bit more Egyptian crossed with sci-fi in-keeping with the beard!

Return of the Richard

Hi!

Well its been an action packed few weeks with a mad rush to get a load of stuff done for the Boutique Market in Portsmouth with Amy of STEAM POWERED FISH which was a fun day, if a bit quiet due to the football being on at the same time.

Buffoon at  Work

I have a load of robots left over too which will be getting put on my ETSY page in the next day or two and will be getting posted here too!

In other news I am on the lookout for a job so if anyone is recruiting or looking for a sculptor, model maker or concept artist please feel free to get in touch!

I am also planning on starting to update my blog far more regularly. As already mentioned I am going to post some pictures of the Baublebot, Camerabot and Nutcrackerbot here in the morning and hope to start posting some pages from my sketchbooks every day for the foreseeable future. It will get me drawing again as I have been so busy making stuff I haven't had chance to draw enough!

All the best!

A House for £3000?

Hi!

I been reading about a family who couldn't afford to buy a house so built their own for just £3000 with some particularly stunning results:

£3000 House!

Both Amy and myself are really interested in this as its both a self built home and a low impact eco house, not to mention a beautiful creation.

We are in a very similar situation as getting on the property ladder, especially for folks like us who are self employed with a fledgeling business is nigh on impossible so we have come to the decision that we are going to attempt to do something similar.

This is a major undertaking as we will be needing to save a considerable amount of money to both buy a plot of land, design the house, get planning permission and get the materials, not to mention the building costs. We both feel passionately about the project though and have decided to put part of any money we make from our work towards it.

I doubt it will come to fruition for several years but it is giving us a goal to work toward!

Heres a LINK to the original article. Its a fascinating website and well worth a peruse through.

Robots For Sale!

Hi!

Well we are back from the MCM in London and it was a great experience and we got lots of interest in our stuff! Amys Quadropusses sold out entirely and I even managed to sell one of the my Series 1 Rusty Robots!

I would have loved to have sold more but speaking with some of the other traders it just seems that this year folks just didn't have the money to spend so it was quite quiet sales wise despite it having record attendance!

Still it means that I have a batch of robots being listed on Etsy now! Heres the link to my ETSY SITE. At present I have the remainder of the Series 1 Rusty Robots listed but I will be listing the rest at some point this evening!

 Bumble

 Hammerboy

Pathfinder

For sale at present theres Hammerboy, Bumble and Pathfinder. Rollerboy sold at the MCM so is no longer available I'm afraid! The show specials and minibots will be getting added soon so please feel free to nip over and have a look!
