Rusty Robots Feature!

Hi!

I've just been informed that my Rusty Robots on display in the Worcester City Art Gallery have been featured in the local paper!

The Worcester Standard  featured a picture of the little chubbers in an article on the show on the 10th of June. Alas the gallery didn't tell me till today so I had to make do with a digital version! Still its good to see my work in print!

I have finished the first of the Series 1 Rusty Robots and will be posting pictures later on today so keep your eyes peeled!

All the best!

Deviant Art Deviation of the Day!

Hi!

I seem to have managed to get myself featured as a Deviation of the Day over on DEVIANT ART. I must admit I was somewhat taken aback by all the fuss but it is rather nice none the less!

The Spacecow!

Its all very exciting and to celebrate I am going to be putting some rusty robots up for grabs soon!

Tiny Goblin Freelancer

Sculpted at the same time as my Goblin Freelancer, I made this little chap as a concept piece to go along with him:

Tiny Goblin Freelancer

Made from some old Sculpey I had kicking around and a piece of plastic sheet, the little chap stands roughly 50mm tall. I was surprised by how nice the Sculpey was to carve once it had been cooked. Further experimentation revealed that only the darker colours are suited to carving as the lighter ones have a tendancy to flake...

Heres a picture of the two together:

Large and Small

Jobs For Zombies

Hi!

While looking through my sketchbooks I found these two fellows who may well have to form part of a series of sculpts in the near future:

Jobs For Zombies: Lumberjack

Jobs for Zombies: Chef

I had a big list of others kicking around somewhere and will have to see if I can find it!

The idea of creating a host of zombie sculpts is quite appealing and I may well have to give it a go!

All the best!

Space Captain Smith!

Hi!

I'm a bit of a fan of the rather fantastic Space Captain Smith books by Toby Frost and sketched up some figure concepts for the brave captain a while back and recently rediscovered them and thought I would post them here!

Looking at them now I must admit I am tempted to have a bash at sculpting the brave captain and his somewhat feckless crew!

All the best!

Tiny Rusty Marine Sergeant!

Hi!

Heres a couple of pictures of another tiny rusty robot, the Rusty Marine Sergeant:

Rusty Marine Sergeant Front

Rusty Marine Sergeant Back

Rusty Marine Sergeant Back

Standing just under 30mm tall the Rusty Marine Sergeant has been patched up with spare armour plate and armed with a snazzy yellow ray gun and a spring loaded fist that allows him to pack a real punch!

Alas he isn't going to be for sale but is an example of the sort of quality of tiny rusty robot I am hoping to sell!

All the best!

Rusty Robot Chubber!

Hi!

Heres a  couple of pictures of my latest rusty robot, the Chubber:

Chubber Front

Chubber Side

Chubber Back

Standing roughly 50mm tall the Chubber is a small sculpt that was given to my tutor as a bit of a thankyou for all the support over the last three years.

Constructed from a mixture of Sculpey, wire and Greenstuff, the Chubber is a bit of an experiment to see whether its possible for me to make some smaller rusty robots to sell. The base is a 40mm round plastic wargaming base with a piece of cork tile glued to it. I have used a similar approach for the surface of my plinths used at my degree show as they give a nice worn down look that fits the rusty robots well.

I have another dozen or so even smaller ones under construction and will post pictures of them as they are completed.

All the best!
